Abstract

Nowadays, the prevalence of chronic diseases in children continues to increase, and the integration of spiritual care is an essential aspect of nursing services to improve their quality of life. This study aims to analyze the role of nurses in providing spiritual services to children. This study is a literature study using the three databases: ProQuest, Google Scholar, and PubMed. The keywords in this literature review are adjusted to the Medical Subject Heading (MeSH): spiritual care, nurses, and children. The results of this study show that spiritual care in children can include spiritual needs assessment, patient belief-based interventions, psychosocial care with interpersonal skills, and various factors that affect the success of spiritual care. This study suggests increased education and training for nurses to strengthen their competence in spiritual care. Thus, this study contributes to developing nursing practices that are more comprehensive and responsive to the spiritual needs of pediatric patients.
