Peer Review Process

JSPH (Jurnal Sosial Politik Humaniora) uses a double-blind peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, and academic contribution of every published article. In this process, the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed from each other.

1. Initial Screening
All submitted manuscripts are first evaluated by the editorial team. At this stage, the editors check:
- conformity with the journal’s focus and scope
- compliance with the author guidelines and template
- completeness of manuscript structure
- language quality
- similarity/plagiarism screening

Manuscripts that do not meet the minimum requirements may be returned to the authors or rejected without external review (desk rejection).

2. Reviewer Assignment
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. Reviewers are selected based on their academic background and research experience.

3. Double-Blind Review
JSPH applies a double-blind review policy:
- reviewers do not know the identity of the authors
- authors do not know the identity of the reviewers

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript on aspects such as:
- originality and novelty
- clarity of research problem and objectives
- adequacy of literature review
- soundness of method
- quality of analysis and discussion
- contribution to social, political, and/or humanities studies
- accuracy of references and academic writing

4. Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editor may decide:
- Accept submission
- Revisions required (minor revision)
- Resubmit for review (major revision)
- Decline submission

The final decision is made by the editor and does not solely depend on a numerical majority of reviewer recommendations. The editor considers the strength of the arguments and the overall quality of the manuscript.

5. Revision Stage
If revision is required, authors must revise the manuscript according to the reviewers’ and editors’ comments and submit:
- the revised manuscript
- a response/rebuttal note explaining the changes made

The revised manuscript may be re-checked by the editor and, if necessary, returned to the reviewers.

6. Copyediting, Proofreading, and Publication
Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, layout, proofreading, DOI assignment, and online publication in the scheduled issue.

Review Timeline
The duration of review may vary depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of revisions. Authors can monitor the status of their submission through the OJS account.

Ethical Responsibility
Reviewers must maintain confidentiality, provide objective and constructive comments, and declare any conflicts of interest. Authors must ensure that the manuscript is original, free from plagiarism, and not under review elsewhere.
