This study discusses "Group Counseling Services through Role Playing Therapy in Overcoming Homesickness in Islamic Boarding Schools." The aim is to evaluate the implementation process, effectiveness, and psychological and social impacts of roleplaying therapy in overcoming homesickness in students.
The results of the study indicate that group counseling services with the roleplaying method successfully create a conducive atmosphere for expressing feelings of homesickness. The implementation process, from preparation to intervention, is carried out effectively, thus facilitating students to share experiences and manage emotions. In terms of effectiveness, this therapy has been proven to be significant in reducing the level of homesickness (p <0.05), increasing self-efficacy, and helping students deal with longing better. The psychological impacts that arise include reduced stress and anxiety, while the social impacts are in the form of increased communication and interaction skills.
This study recommends the implementation of group counseling periodically in Islamic boarding schools, strengthening emotional and social education, and increasing counselor competence. Suggestions for future research include the development of variations in therapy methods, longitudinal studies to evaluate long-term impacts, and cross-Islamic boarding school research by considering cultural and environmental aspects.
