Abstract

Abstract:

The advancement of technology and flexible work systems has contributed to the emergence of new forms of employment, particularly in the digital creative industry. Despite offering flexibility, digital creative workers frequently experience high workloads due to tight deadlines, repeated revisions, and multitasking demands, which may disrupt their work–life balance and psychological well-being. This study aimed to examine the relationship between workload perception and work life balance among digital creative workers in Jambi City. A quantitative correlational design was employed, involving 110 digital creative workers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a workload perception scale based on Gawron’s (2008) dimensions and a work life balance scale adapted from Fisher et al. (2009) by Gunawan (2019). Data analysis was conducted using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The results revealed a strong and significant negative correlation between workload perception and work life balance (r = −0.629; p < 0.001). These findings indicate that higher perceived workload is associated with lower levels of work life balance among digital creative workers in Jambi City, suggesting that excessive workload perception may hinder individuals’ ability to maintain a healthy balance between professional and personal life.
