Peer Review Process
The Journal of Asian Primary Education (JOAPE) implements strict peer review procedures to ensure the quality and validity of published research. This process is double-blind, guaranteeing the confidentiality of the identity of the author and reviewer. Experts in related fields conduct reviews, assess manuscripts based on their scientific significance, innovation, and relevance to the journal's objectives.
- Initial Assessment: The editorial team conducts a preliminary review of each manuscript to ensure its suitability with the journal's focus and publication standards. Manuscripts that do not meet the criteria or show more than 30% similarity with existing works will be rejected immediately. The team also checks the format and style of the citations as per the author's guidelines. Manuscripts that do not conform will be returned for correction and resubmission. Manuscripts that pass the examination will be continued to the peer review stage.
- Selection of Reviewers: The editorial board appoints a minimum of two independent reviewers who are experts in the field of the manuscript and are experienced in related research. The reviewer and the author do not know each other's identities. The editorial board ensures reviewers come from a different institution than the author, considering their scientific expertise and potential conflicts of interest before inviting them. The target for the appointment of reviewers is within one month.
- Evaluation Process: Reviewers assess the scientific rigor, originality, validity, and relevance of the manuscript to their field, usually 1 week for one round. They provide detailed feedback so that the author can refine the manuscript, by suggesting acceptance, revision, or rejection.
- Editorial Decision: The editor-in-chief makes decisions to accept, reject, or request revisions based on reviewer feedback and adherence to publication standards. If the reviewer's opinion differs significantly, additional reviewers may be consulted. Editor's decisions and anonymous comments of reviewers are conveyed to the author.
- Revision Stage: Authors of manuscripts that require revisions must include the suggested changes and submit a revised version, highlighting the changes and including a letter responding to the feedback. The revision deadline is 1 week for minor changes and 2 weeks for major changes. Manuscripts with major revisions will be re-evaluated by the original reviewers to ensure the effectiveness of the revisions.
- Final Stage Towards Publication: Accepted manuscripts must be submitted in final form for editing and formatting prior to publication.
Through this rigorous peer review process, the Journal of Asian Primary Education (JOAPE) ensures research publications that meet the highest standards of scientific integrity and quality.
